Winter Wellbeing 2025–26 Roundup❄️

As the colder months begin to fade and the first signs of spring emerge, we’re taking a moment to reflect on another meaningful Winter Wellbeing programme at Bloom.

This year’s programme has once again been a powerful reminder of how important it is to stay connected, creative, and supported through the darker, quieter months. Designed to help people maintain their wellbeing and build community during winter, the programme brought together individuals from across Sheffield to share in a wide range of calming, creative and restorative activities.

We are incredibly grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund and the JG Graves Charitable Fund for their generous support, which made this programme possible. Their backing allows us to continue offering accessible, inclusive opportunities that make a real difference to people’s lives.

A Winter of Shared Experiences

Throughout the season, we hosted a diverse programme of workshops and sessions that encouraged people to slow down, try something new, and connect with others.

Our Learn to Knit workshops with Knit Sheffield brought together beginners and more experienced crafters alike, creating a warm, social space where skills and stories were shared in equal measure. Meanwhile, the Still Life Flower Drawing with Liah Edwards session offered a chance to pause and observe the beauty of natural forms, just as spring began to emerge.

For those seeking movement and mindfulness, our Winter Wellbeing Yoga sessions provided a gentle way to stay active and grounded, while Rest and Relaxation sessions created space for calm, reflection, and stress relief.

Creativity continued to flourish in our Natural Dyes Workshop with Charlie Hill, where participants explored sustainable ways to work with colour using plant-based materials. Out in nature, Forest Bathing sessions offered a chance to reconnect with the outdoors, encouraging participants to slow down and immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, and textures of the natural environment.

Our Community Choir with Liv Muirbrought voices together in joyful harmony, lifting spirits and building confidence week by week.

And throughout it all, we continued our much-loved Gather and Grow gardening sessions. Even in winter, our gardens remained places of activity, connection, and care—reminding us that growth doesn’t stop when the temperature drops.

Why Winter Wellbeing Matters

Winter can be a challenging time for many people. Shorter days, colder weather, and reduced opportunities for social interaction can take a toll on both mental and physical health. That’s why the Winter Wellbeing programme exists: to provide welcoming spaces where people can stay active, feel supported, and remain connected to their community.

Whether it’s through learning a new skill, spending time outdoors, or simply sharing a conversation over a warm drink, these moments of connection are vital. They help reduce isolation, boost confidence, and support overall wellbeing during a time of year when it’s needed most.

Looking Ahead

We are so proud of what this year’s programme has achieved and grateful to everyone who took part, shared their time, and helped create such a positive and supportive atmosphere.

As we move into spring and begin planning for the months ahead, we carry forward the sense of community and care that has defined this winter.

Thank you again to the National Lottery Community Fund and the JG Graves Charitable Fund for supporting this work—and to everyone who made Winter Wellbeing 2025–26 such a success. And to Helena Dolby for capturing the magic of the sessions on camera.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon 🌱
