Bloom X RHS Wentworth Flower Show
In July, something pretty special happened – the RHS Flower Show came to Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham for the very first time. The historic house and grounds provided a stunning backdrop for a week of floral inspiration, gardening talks, and creative demonstrations – all celebrating the best of Yorkshire’s gardening and floristry talent. We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to take part.
As a celebration of local businesses, florists, and garden designers, the show put a spotlight on community-rooted, sustainable, and passionate creators – which made it feel like such a natural fit for Bloom. We were invited to take part in the floristry demonstration programme, which ran across the week in one of the most beautiful rooms of the house. Think high ceilings, ornate detailing, huge windows letting in the July sun – the perfect space to play with flowers and connect with people.
This was an amazing opportunity for us to share what Bloom Sheffield is all about – not just our floristry style (which, if you know us, is always a bit wild, natural and unfussy), but also the values we care deeply about: accessibility, community, creativity, and joy.
We want floristry to feel doable and inclusive – not intimidating or elitist. It doesn’t have to be grand or expensive. Even with a few stems picked from your own garden, or some bits and bobs gathered on a walk, you can make something beautiful. And maybe more importantly, you can enjoy the process – taking some quiet time for yourself, getting your hands moving, and feeling that lovely, grounding connection to nature.
For our demonstration, we created two different vase arrangements using seasonal flowers we’d grown ourselves – all arranged in vases we’d found in charity shops (a great way to be more sustainable and budget-friendly too!). We talked through how we chose our colour palettes, how to prep and condition your stems, and how to build a natural-looking shape without needing floral foam or wire.
It was so lovely to see people nodding along, asking questions, and even saying they felt inspired to try something at home. That’s what it’s all about, really.
Here are a few photos from the day – including a peek at the beautiful room we were lucky enough to demo in. Big thanks to the RHS and Wentworth Woodhouse for having us, and to everyone who came along to watch, chat, and share in the joy of flowers with us.
Until next time! 🌼
